Why I Started Building Flowtor
This morning I was asked what my vision is for Flowtor. I had to pause for a moment and think. But very quickly, I dug something out of my deep mind and long-term memory.
The idea is that people in logistics come to work and know exactly what they need to focus on, because a system shows them what requires attention. They can skip the work of comparing, reviewing, editing, entering, or deleting data.
I spent 15 years in logistics and operations, and I have always seen the same challenges. Business needs to be implemented fairly quickly, and manual processes are often accepted because solutions need to be there sooner rather than later. A customer is not waiting for long internal projects to standardize something. Fully understandable.
But at the same time, the logistics industry is not really moving. At least not from what I have seen. Papers pile up on desks, systems are not fully used to their potential, yet they are paid for in full. To make an organization adapt to what a system can do takes a long time, a lot of effort, training, communication, preparation, and intense work.
“The next era of logistics will be built by software that works with people.”
So here is what I really hope for: a future where people do not have to struggle and spend a long time adapting just to use tools. A future that leads to a more digital and innovative environment in the logistics industry.
After many years in corporate life, I decided to launch Flowtor. A startup is flexible, innovative, fast, and provides an environment that allows people to lean into these innovations.
This year will be challenging and interesting. I have not felt as alive as I have this year, with all the challenges that come along with driving a vision and a startup, and creating something entirely new.
I’m Jens, founder of Flowtor. I share thoughts on logistics, operations, and building Flowtor here.
